The crystal pulses with a light from within, casting flickering shadows on the walls. With each flash of light, a dull vibration is sent through the cavern. Echoes bounce off the walls, and the cacophony is almost deafening. The floor has been tiled, and some insane scribe has sketched incomprehensible runes over every available inch. The writing has been done with a coagulating red material which clumps and smears. All the writing spirals out from the crystal, so that to read it one has turn in circles. Beyond the crystal, the passage once continued on. It has long since collapsed, the power radiating through the area being too much for simple stone to bear. Tiny passages to the east and west still remain, offering reprieve from the wash of dark power. This place of magic may have been the lure that drew the Vanlarra mages here.
